The Barton Strings consist of a small pool of ten local musicians who work interchangeably each week. Eight of the ten have been in the ensemble since the inception. Each musician holds a Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree in music performance from the finest Universities in the country. They are principal players and tenured members of the Austin Symphony Orchestra, Austin Lyric Opera, and maintain full time careers as professional musicians. We have performed solo, chamber , or orchestrally with such great artists as Lyle Lovett, Darden Smith, Paige and Plant (Zeppelin), Luciano Pavarotti, Arcade Fire, Andrea Bocelli, Bernadette Peters, Chet Atkins, Smokey Robinson, Olivia Newton John, Harry Connick Jr., Willie Nelson, Natalie Cole, Ray Charles, Moody Blues and Nancy Griffith, to name a few. The Barton Strings have performed on numerous Disney, Capitol Records recordings and were the string ensemble chosen to perform on Stefan Kostka's Tonal Harmony recording, which is the primary recording used in Universities across the country to teach fundamentals of music. Barton Strings, most recently, were featured on American Idol Season 12 in Paramount Pictures recording " Beauty School Dropout" and also were a part of ABC's Extreme Makeover Edition last season.
